Since 1949, Standard Builders has demonstrated its commitment to excellence in providing professional construction services to some of the most prestigious, yet discerning business owners throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts.  SBI is a company that strives to succeed in the industry, with the client, and in our own work environment.  The following awards demonstrate Standard Builders succeeding in each of the categories, creating a unique trifecta.

 

Standard Builders won the AGC National Safety Award for four years, because of the zero incidence rate with 50,000+ work hours.  In 2013 SBI was the only Connecticut firm with a zero incidence rate at the end of the year.

 

 

For 12 consecutive years, Standard Builders has won awards speaking to the quality company it is to work for, voted by the employees.  For 2 years, Standard Builders was also voted the #1 company in ethics. Winning the #3 in 2020.

 

 

For 12 consecutive years, Standard Builders has won the CCIA Excellence in Construction Safety and Health Award.  This award is to recognize construction companies who excel at safety performances.  For two of the 12 years, SBI was the Platinum Award Recipient as well.

 

Standard Builders has won the AGC Build CT Award six times for various projects.  The projects include 2006 Connecticut Children’s Medical Center’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, 2008 Elmer Theines Mary Hall Elementary School addition and renovation, and the Rocky Hill Police Department, 2010 ECHN’s Woodlake at Tolland Expansion, 2014 Yale West Campus Dining Services, and 2016 Yale School of Medicine’s Cafe Med Servery.

 

Connecticut Magazine awarded Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods 2015 Best of Connecticut, Standard Builders acted as Construction Manager for this multi-million dollar project.

 

 

Standard Builders has won the CBC Project Team Awards, three times on three different projects.  In 2012 SBI won it for the Great Cedar Hotel Renovation at Foxwoods, 2013 for Yale’s Becton Center for Engineering Innovation & Design and Cafe, and in 2016 for Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods

 

Standard Builders was recognized The Associated General Contractors of Connecticut (AGC/CT) as the first General Contractor/Construction Manager of the year.  This prestigious award is based on the firm’s leadership, integrity, skill, and responsibility within the design and construction industry.

 

 

 

Standard Builders won the 2016 ACE Planning Award.  SBI was teamed with  Alfred Benesh & Company on the Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods.

 

 

The Lord Jeffery Inn in Amherst earned a 2015 Preservation Award from the Massachusetts Historical Commission. Standard Builders was the Construction Manager who teamed with Northeast Collaborative Architects.

 

 

 

The New York Council Society of American Registered Architects awarded Bentel and Bentel Architects the Silver Award of Honor for their work at Yale University’s Becton Ground Cafe. Standard Builders was the Construction Manager on this project and is proud to be part of the Team.

 

 

 

Standard Builders’ Becton Center School of Engineering and Applied Science and Ground Cafe project at Yale has been selected for the 2014 AIA Small Project Award.  Our project will be displayed at the AIA Small Project Practioner’s Award Gallery from June 25 – 28 at the 2014 AIA National Convention in Chicago.  Congratulations to Charney Architects (School of Engineering), Bentel & Bentel (Ground Cafe) and the entire Becton team!
